Professional Development Grant
In Fall 2007, PREP/APRA began awarding two Professional Development Grants valued at up to $350 each to current PREP/APRA members at the Annual Fall Conference. The grants may be used to attend MARC or any other PREP/APRA-approved conference. (Previously, one $250 award was given.)
Members are encouraged to apply for the grant. Forms will be available at the Fall Conference, at which time the recipient will be chosen. Note: Only members with current, paid status are eligible to receive the grant.
Amount
Up to $350 each (This amount is reviewed, and may be changed annually.)
Intent
The goal of this grant program is to encourage members to take advantage of educational opportunities that may be beyond their own or their employers' budgets. A secondary goal is to encourage the sharing of information with chapter members.
Selection Process
At times, we have selected the recipient randomly from all applications received. At other times, a selection committee has chosen a recipient based on the applicant's planned use of funds. The process will be articulated on the application.
Policies
PREP/APRA will submit a fee payment, not to exceed $350, directly to the organization sponsoring the professional meeting, conference, etc. The recipient is responsible for the balance of expenses associated with the event. Should the recipient be unable to use the award within the next 12 months, the award may be offered to an alternate.
PREP/APRA officers are not eligible during their term. Only members with current, paid status are eligible to receive the grant. The recipient must use the grant within 12 months of the award and share information about the event with PREP/APRA members. This may be accomplished through a presentation at a chapter conference, or in an occasional article published on the chapter website, and or in the newsletter and should be completed before the next scheduled chapter conference.
